Belief is essential if you want to make important changes in your life but how do you engender belief?
Often when I’m coaching new clients I can see scepticism in their facial expressions – a sure sign that we’re going to have to do some work on their beliefs. This will be the hardest part of the work we do together. If we fail to reach a believing place the coaching will not be as successful as it might be.
The 64 dollar question is: “how does a non-believer become a believer?” Can we help people to change their belief systems?
What is Belief?
“Belief is the psychological state in which an individual holds a proposition or premise to be true.” Wikipedia
People who believe have the feeling that they KNOW that what they believe to be true is true. This is why believers so often manage to turn their beliefs into reality. They are simply manifesting what they have always known to be true.
It is also why limiting beliefs will undermine any one’s efforts to achieve goals. If you don’t believe you can, you are probably right.
Whether you believe you can or believe you can’t you’re right.
How Do You Create Belief?
A belief is a strong feeling that something is so. Notice the word “feeling.” That is the key word.
Let’s say you want to achieve something specific. Please decide right now, what it is you want to achieve and take a few seconds to write it down.
Think of that achievement or goal in the present tense, as if you have it now.
Then say: “I feel wonderful when am in my ideal state of having …………..”
That’s it, keep telling yourself you “feel wonderful,” that it is your “ideal state,” and that you have it now.
The more you keep telling yourself what to believe, the more you will come to believe it is true and then it will be true.
