This week I will be writing about Desired State Thinking. In other words thinking in a Desired State or thinking from a Desired State.
Many people think about how they would like to be and then try to create circumstances that will allow them to be that way. For instance they might think, “I would like to be more confident.” They then set about trying to create circumstances that will make them be confident. But ‘what if they can’t think of anything that will make them feel confident at this moment?’
With Desired State Thinking you start by making yourself feel confident, and then ask, “what do I have to do to maintain this state of being?”
The secret is to get into the state you want to be in FiRST and then work out how to maintain it.
You can use desired state thinking to create outcomes for yourself in any field of activity. For instance you could create a state of being a good leader, or a strategic thinker or a powerful presenter or a well-organised manager.
