Welcome

On the late December day that Feeling Groovy was published I lit the log fire in my living room and gazed contentedly into the flames. It was one of the high points in my life. I had finally found a way to share my knowledge, gleaned from coaching over 1,000 people, of how to lead a happy, healthy and prosperous life.

Life is at its best when you feel “on top of the world.” It is my opinion that no thought, no activity, no amount of money can ever surpass the best feelings. The pinnacles in your life are the stand out feelings that you experience. The more you manage to make yourself feel wonderful, the higher will be your life experience.

In the 25+ years I have been a self-realisation coach I have come to understand that we are all driven primarily by our twin desires to feel “good” and to avoid feeling “bad.” We feel more acutely alive and animated when we experience heightened levels of positive feelings such as love, happiness, friendship, confidence and hope. The question is: “How do I get to experience these positive feelings all the time?”

Feeling Groovy is a book that explains my philosophy of how to live a happy, healthy and prosperous life. It is is about the best ways to think and behave in order to induce and maintain the groovy feelings that will enhance your life. The book Feeling Groovy and this blog are intended to be your “go-to recipe” when your spirits need a lift.

The aim of this blog is to help you to feel groovy every day of your life. I will help you to achieve this by posting simple daily exercises from the Feeling Groovy Coaching programme on this blog. You can also receive the exercises by entering your email and first name in the form at the top of the right hand column. When you join us you will automatically receive a free copy of the first two chapters of the book Feeling Groovy.

Today’s Exercise: start imaging how you would like your life to be. Imagine what you would like to have in your life, what you would like to be doing and where you would like to be. Also imagine what you would like to NOT have in your life, what you would like to NOT be doing and where you would NOT like to be, if that is the case. Make notes of what you really want

How To Break Free and Be Happy

In our middle years we get tangled up in a web of debt, work, relationships and responsibilities. They shackle us to living mainly to fulfil our commitments. We are caged in, not free to express ourselves. Our spirit is confined, but this does not stop it from clamouring for release. Frustration and a sense that something important is lacking in our lives grows inside of us like a cancer. We know that we are not fulfilling our potential. Dissatisfaction can make us grumpy but it does not help us to see a way out of our predicament.

Over seven years between 2011 and 2018 the British Office for National Statistics asked more than one million citizens to rate their levels of life satisfaction, self-worth, happiness and anxiety on a scale of one to ten. Analysis of the results carried out by the Resolution Foundation found that people’s levels of happiness peaked at the ages of 16 and 70. In the years between people’s levels of happiness formed a “U” curve which reaches its low point in our mid fifties. It is only after the age of 70 that the average person starts to make up for the lost happiness that went missing in their middle years. See graph below:

It is important to bear in mind that these figures are only averages, some people do seem to be able to live the dream. Their lives appear to be exciting, fulfilling and full of interest, happiness and prosperity. How do they do that? Many appear to have ample supplies of money. Money can certainly oil the wheels, but it doesn’t, of itself, solve the problems that many seem to experience. Other research shows that money comes as a result good life satisfaction rather than being the cause of life satisfaction. In other words those who have broken free are likely to be enjoying what they are doing and they therefore earn more money.

Finding ways to break free from the slavery of commitment and life rules invented by other people so that you can express yourself and find happiness has been the mission of Self-Realisation Coach David Ferrers for over 25 years. David draws on his experience of coaching over one thousand people to show you how to break free and find happiness at any age in his practical and inspirational book How To Break Free and Be Happy. This is your ticket to happiness and prosperity. Grab it with both hands.

How To Feel Happy

What you need to realise is that you have a choice. You can choose to be happy or unhappy.

This sounds almost too simple to be true, but it is true. Think about it like this: “Whose feelings are your feelings?” Yours, right. “Who creates your feelings?” You do, right. What could be simpler then than for you to create the feelings that you want.

Now, here’s the problem. You have an innate resistance to creating your feelings. You have an expectation that something has to happen in order for you to feel happy. You have grown up thinking that it has to be your birthday, or you have an exciting date, or it is Christmas time in order for you to feel happy. But this is simply not the case. All of these events or occasions are simply triggers that set off your happy feelings. The actual feelings are entirely yours.

You can trigger a happy feeling at any time, all you have to do is make the decision, “I will feel happy now.” That’s it!

This is what Groovy People do. We simply take charge of our minds and decide how we wish to feel at any given time. We don’t rely on other people or events to trigger our happiness – we do this ourselves.

This is just a short article you can get a lot more detail of how to make yourself happy from my book Feeling Groovy.
