How to Achieve More

by David Ferrers

Whilst watching a horse trails this morning a thought suddenly occurred to me.

It’s so simple it surprised me that I hadn’t thought about it before. “Some people have limited horizons.” They just do not look beyond their immediate environment. They cannot see any future beyond what they currently enjoy.

Their horizons are limited by their experiences, by the environment in which they were brought up and by the teachers they had at school.

As I thought about this theme it became obvious that one of the most important lessons we can teach our children is to dream big dreams, to imagine themselves in many different scenarios.

But, “how do you teach a full grown adult to suddenly expand their horizons. Might it not be scary out there in Imagination Land?”

We are all limited to some extent by our fears and beliefs. And this is where a good coach comes into his or her own. A good coach is like a companion or friend on our journeys into the unknown.

It is easier to explore the darkness when you have a companion.
