This is a much deeper book about how to achieve happiness and peace of mind than yesterday’s recommendation. Written by an Oxford University Professor of Clinical Psychology and a professional features writer the book explores the benefits of meditation in layman’s language.
What I like about this book is that it takes the reader through some deep learning about psychology without ever resorting to “psychological language” or without ever patronising the reader. It is also good to find so much scientific corroboration for the benefits of meditation.
If you want a guide to how to use meditation to help you find happiness in your life I would strongly recommend this book. Interestingly it was recommended to me by one of my ex-clients who is now actively pursuing this path to happiness with very obviously beneficial results.
Mindfulness: A practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world comes with a useful CD of meditations which will help even the most raw of beginners who would like to be able to use meditation as a route to finding peace and happiness in their lives. At the very least I feel sure you will enjoy the chocolate meditation.
